The alternate HP driver for your product might not be currently installed on your computer, but it is available through Windows Update. Click the Windows Update button to select additional print drivers. Select the alternate driver for your product, and then click Next. You must connect to the Internet before using Windows Update. I'm having trouble getting a DeskJet 6127 installed on Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. HP's site recommends using the DeskJet 990c driver, but yet when I go to download it, it is not available for Windows 7 either. I then followed their steps going through Windows Update to search for the driver, but it didn't find anything. So right now Windows recognizes it as an 'unknown device'. Has anyone successfully got the DeskJet 6127 to work with Windows 7? If so, what did you do or point me in the right direction? I'm about to pull my hair out (what's left of it anyways) trying to figure this out. Where oh where can I find the HP Deskjet 990c printer driver? Recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. HP says the alternate printer driver for my 6127 Deskjet is the HP 990c printer driver. Microsoft says the HP 990c printer driver is compatible with Windows 7. The HP 990c printer driver is nowhere to be found on any driver list in Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium. Neither has it been found following methods prescribed by HP Printer Install Wizard, HP Printer Diagnostic Utility (the Windows Update utility there fails perpetually), using the devicemgmt utility and all other references to cable connections, printer port/USB assignments, etc. HP Product Support agent was also of no help. On some forum, found reference that the 990c printer driver is resident on a list of drivers that come with the Windows 7 Professional version. Can't believe Microsoft would be holding out or hoarding the driver exclusively there. So, since all other methods have failed, how does one manually download and install the Windows compatible HP 990c printer driver? Much obliged for all and any help. Follow the instructions in the following link from HP Support. It won't matter whether you have Home Premium or Professional. The driver is obtained after using the 'Windows Update' button as described in Step 2 Item 8. I just tried it and it is available at that step (it will take a couple minutes for the update and then it will show up on the list under 'HP' and not under 'Hewlett Packard' and you will need to scroll down to Deskjet 990c which will come after Deskjet 9800. The instructions also have further steps on how to install the alternate driver: Those HP steps worked for me. Admin privs are needed to install anything from Windows Update.
